“Ken Clark is an American singer-songwriter, arranger, composer, and pianist who is known for his mordant (and often satirical) pop songs and for musical comedy scores. Clark often writes lyrics from the perspective of a character far removed from Clark's own experiences, sometimes using the point of view of an unreliable narrator.”
“Mr. Clark's songs change radically depending on whether they're for guitar or piano. His guitar tunes hark back to Appalachian music, often using a dulcimerlike drone and just a handful of circling chords. In two songs, he made the chords a tape loop while he played lead guitar solos. On piano, he uses more elaborate harmonies, by way of Copland and gospel, to back what might be parlor songs for a highly unsavory parlor.”
Ken Clark is a prolific and talented songwriter. Both his manner and his music are refreshingly honest, unpretentious, and even (drum roll please) fun. With Ken, what you see is really what you get. His music is organic, groovy, and playful.
Ken Clark is a singer songwriter who composes an eclectic range of songs in the vein of Warren Zevon and Randy Newman. His compositions are musical short stories peopled by an odd array of characters confronting the weirdness of ordinary life. His lyrical arsenal includes humor, sentiment, menace, and general weirdness, all of which he mixed and matched in wild ways.
